Dreaming of Writing

I dream about writing. And I don’t mean that metaphorically—I literally dream about it.

It started in middle school. My English teacher assigned a project, though I can’t remember the details. What I do remember is that it required a partner. I wrote a short story, and my partner illustrated it. The story was about tiny people floating around in bubbles—though the plot escapes me, I’ll never forget the feeling when my mom, a second-grade teacher at the time, read it to her class. They enjoyed it. And that moment stuck with me.

From then on, I made up stories in my head to help me fall asleep, and more often than not, I would dream about sharing them.

Flash forward through raising two sons and a 20-year career in healthcare, and I still dreamed of writing. Now, for the first time, I’m in a position to dedicate time and energy to that dream.

Like many writers, I have more ideas than I know what to do with. So, I started them—all of them. And while there are plenty more waiting in the wings, I know if I chase every new idea, I’ll never finish any of them. The struggle to finish is something I see all over social media, and I know I’m not alone in it. But I’m determined. I’m nudging each project forward, one by one, and I hope this site helps keep me accountable.

I don’t want to be a blogger, but I’ll be blogging here—sharing what’s working, what isn’t, and what I’m learning along the way. Hopefully, we can inspire and support each other in the process.

I don’t know exactly where this journey will lead, but this website is part of the experiment. And since you’ve found your way here, I hope you’ll join me in figuring it out.
